About Me
Meet The Founder
Hi, I’m Kayla, the founder of Know Her Rights!
I’m a junior in high school from New Jersey with a passion for politics and advocating for the rights of minorities, youth, and girls.
I created this website because I noticed that many teens don’t think politics affect them, but that’s far from the truth. Laws, policies, and court decisions shape our rights, even as teens. Unfortunately, girls and young women are often left out of these conversations or face gender bias in law and politics, which is why our content centers girls.
As young people, it’s important that we educate ourselves about what’s happening in our country. When we understand how the system works, we can make informed decisions, speak up for what we believe in, and make a difference in our communities.
Thank you for visiting Know Her Rights. I hope this space helps empower you with the knowledge to stay informed, get involved, and stand up for your rights.
Our Purpose
Know Her Rights was created to bridge the gap between young people and legal systems. Laws, policies, and court cases are often written in complex language that creates distance between youth and the systems that shape their lives. This platform breaks down those concepts in a clear and relatable way, making it fun and easy to learn about.
We especially center girls, who are often left out of legal and political conversations, to challenge gender bias and help all youth see that women and girls are powerful, capable leaders. Through accessible legal education and real-life examples of female trailblazers, our goal is to empower the next generation to be informed, confident, and civically engaged.
Our Mission
Our aim is to help youth:
-
Understand how legal and political systems impact their rights.
-
See the importance of staying informed prior to adulthood.
-
Recognize that women are capable leaders in law and politics shaping the future of governance and justice.
-
Build confidence in forming their own opinions and using their voices.
-
Prepare to make thoughtful, informed choices when it comes to voting and community action.
